Did not avoid the dot com boom and bust.
- Dealt with Financiers from Chicago who never did figure out that dot-com's are
just strings of characters, and that software is in a perpetual state of flux and
potential reinvention by competitors, such that neither can be sat upon like
pork bellies or FCO until the "price is right"... quite different compared to fellows
from New York and LA, but in some ways, a lot more fun.
- Learned lots.
-
Started with building the Shinnova.com intranet,
including wiring up the building, configuring routers, allocating IP's from
a block of Class C's before the days of DHCP, and settup up their Alpha 4000
server for their plan to implement the Japan-Canada portal for all websites
of Japanese Canadian concern
-
From there, built up the Jade infrastructure for developing and hosting
all non-Japanese Canadian internet requirements in the same region.
-
Pioneered all early implementations of SSL and online e-commerce.
-
Developed database driven dynamic HTML construction tools that reduce the
layering encumberances of the existing cgi/database-engine paradigm.
-
Current, refined versions of those tools run faster and safer than any of the current populars (i.e. PHP, Perl, Java, mySQL, etc.)
-
They don't crash, and they never report broken links to the database engine,
-
They don't currupt data, and they are inherently more secure by
virtue of an embedding architecture borrowed from CERN.
-
It takes one third the time and manpower
to render an internet application with these tools than with
any of the classical web development tools,
-
Applications built with these tools have the lowest cost of ownership, and
they maintain a flat maintenance curve.
-
They constitute the prefered
development tools for those who want their application to guarantee
uptime and data integrity, or for projects where rapid development is
desired... Reference available upon request.
-
However, if there are overriding requirements to develop internet applications
with the mainstream utilities, Jade is perfectly capable of doing it that
way... we just like being able to offer application development options
that devliver a stronger, safer product in less time for a lower cost of
production, ownership, and maintenance than what it will cost and what
you'll get if you go the PHP/mySQL or Java/Oracle or ASP/SQL routes,
but if that's you want it, that's no problem.
-
One of the tools was taken on a roller coaster ride through the NASDAC during the boom by some Chicago mercantile traders, so Jade has plenty of experience dealing with financiers and speculators.
Simple, cheep, and super-safe POS (Point of Sale) systems for
any sized retailer.
Management gets up-to-the-second reports in table or graphical
form on how their operation is going.
