Ian Mackay
1954-2009
Mentor

Ian embraced opportunities for adventure, such as his trans-pacific sailing crossings, his private pilot's license with night endorsement, and love of open ocean diving, and was never one to back down from any challenge with which he was faced. He worked in several fields including early work in navigation control systems for remote submarines, various oil and gas industry projects, National and North American defense contracts, real time GPS tracking, and robotics projects, and was awarded a R&D Magazine 100 award for his work with the Defense Research Establishment Suffield. He most recently developed the software controls for the Olympic Rings at Vancouver International Airport.
